properties: -pharmacological actions:cefpirome is a cephalosporin antibiotic for parenteral use.as a beta-lactam antibiotic it acts bactericidally by preventing cell wall synthesis in bacteria. cefpirome is effective against numerous clinically significant gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria including both aerobes and anaerobes. it is stable against the action of most beta-lactamases. cefpirome is rapidly and widly distributed in body fluids and achieves excellent tissue penetration reaching concentrations which exceed the minimum inhibitory concentrations for most pathogens. in vitro studies combinations of cefpirome and aminoglycoside antibiotics showed synergistic effects. -indications: -infections caused by cefpirome-sensitive organisms:lower respiratory tract infections. -complicated upper & lower urinary tract infections. -bacteraemia / septicaemia. -infections in neutropenic and immunocompromised patients. -skin and soft tissue infections. -severe infections in intensive
